Product Description

                                                   Product Description

Introduction:

A common feldspar mineral, sodium aluminosilicate (NaAlSi3O8). It is most common in pegmatites and felsic igneous rocks such as granites, and is also found in low-grade metamorphic rocks and as authigenic albite in some sedimentary rocks. Albite usually forms brittle glass-like crystals of various colors. It can be used to make glass and ceramics, but its main significance is that it is a rock-forming mineral.

Albite is a sodium end-member mineral of the plagioclase solid solution series and the alkaline feldspar series. With a triclinic structure, silicon and aluminum are tetrahedral coordination, forming large vacancies (ie, lattice sites), which are mainly occupied by cationic sodium. Although all silicon and aluminum atoms occupy tetrahedral positions in this structure, the specifics of their positions are different. The distribution of silicon and aluminum atoms is highly ordered at low temperatures, and the distribution of atoms is much more disordered at high temperatures around 1100°C.

Applications:

Albite is generally suitable for low-temperature ceramics:

1. Before firing, feldspar and quartz are non-plastic raw materials, which can shorten the drying time of the body, and reduce the drying shrinkage and deformation.

2. Feldspar is the main flux raw material in the glaze, such as feldspar porcelain, feldspar accounts for about 25% of the green body , accounting for about 50% of the glaze, the main role is to reduce the glaze firing temperature.

3, Feldspar melting at high temperature long stone glass, filled in between the billet particles, and can dissolve other minerals, such as kaolinite, quartz, etc to make the billet compact and help to improve the mechanical strength of products, electrical properties and semi-transparency.

4. Compared with potassium feldspar,albite has a greater effect on reducing the firing temperature of the glaze,and at the same time can improve the translucency of the product,but the firing temperature range is not as wide as that of potassium feldspar

5.Ceramic production of feldspar requirements:

A. The contents of K2O and Na2O should be as high as possible, and the contents of colored oxides Fe2O3 and TiO2 should be as low as possible;

B. SiO2 content should be in 63%-68%, Al2O3 content should be in the range of 17%-23%;

C.The content of CaO in feldspar should not be too high. If the content is too high, the sintering temperature will be reduced when used for billet, and the fluidity of glaze will be affected when used for glaze.
