Nepheline is a silicate containing aluminum and sodium. Colorless or white, sometimes gray, green, or red. It has a glassy luster, and the fracture is fatty. It can be used to make aluminum, glass and pottery. The chemical composition is KNa3 [AISiO4] 4, the crystal belongs to the hexagonal crystal system of frame structure silicate minerals. It is the main feldspathoid mineral. It is mainly produced in alkaline intrusive rocks, volcanic rocks and pegmatite related to syenite. It is mainly used in the glass and ceramic industry, and can also be used as a raw material for refining aluminum.
The role of nepheline in ceramics
.Improve product quality and grade: nepheline as a low iron, high sodium, high aluminum raw materials, can improve the whiteness and quality stability of ceramic products. In the production of polished tiles and granulated white materials, nepheline helps to increase the translucent texture of tiles, thereby improving the overall quality of the product.
.Improved body performance: In the production of glazed bricks and wear-resistant bricks, nepheline can improve the mass and heat transfer rate, contribute to the discharge of water and burned goods, as well as the diffusion of heat, thereby speeding up the drying and burning process. In addition, the addition of nepheline can also improve the degree of porcelain of the body, improve the expansion coefficient of the body, strengthen the degree of glaze bonding, broaden the range of use, and increase sales.

.Enhance the glaze effect: nepheline in ceramic glaze can control the crystallization of the glaze, affecting the texture and effect of the glaze. Its addition can change the crystallization of the glaze, control the size and distribution of the crystal, so as to obtain a more delicate and uniform glaze effect. At the same time, nepheline can also reduce the glaze cracking phenomenon, enhance the toughness of the glaze, improve the stability of the glaze layer.
.Improve the quality of the glaze: nepheline can improve the transparency and gloss of the glaze, make the glaze more uniform and delicate, and improve the appearance quality of ceramic products.
.Lower glaze costs: Compared to other glaze raw materials, nepheline is relatively cheap and easy to obtain. Therefore, the use of nepheline as the raw material of ceramic glaze can effectively reduce the cost of glaze.
.Rich product variety: the potassium and sodium elements in nepheline are highly interfused, which helps to color the body, enrich the product variety and reduce the amount of color.
.Overcome the quality defects of polished brick rebound: nepheline can also overcome the quality defects of polished brick rebound after throwing.
.Decorative effect: In the exterior wall brick body, the addition of nepheline can produce self-releasing glaze phenomenon, this self-releasing glaze is matte transparent, with a unique sense of texture and light. At the same time, the use of nephelinite-infused formula to produce cultural stone for external wall bricks can be more like natural granite, aplite and diabase 2.
.Reduce the firing temperature and period.
