Fluorite, equiaxed crystal system, crystalline octahedron and cube. The main ingredient is calcium fluoride (CaF₂). Crystal is glass luster, pure fluorite is colorless, common colors are light green to dark green, blue, green blue, yellow, wine yellow, purple, violet, gray, brown, rose red, dark red and so on. Brittle, Mohs hardness of 4, melting point of 1360ºC, with the nature of complete cleavage. Some samples can emit light under the conditions of friction, heating, ultraviolet radiation and so on. Fluorite is a common mineral in nature, which can coexist with many other minerals. It is produced in many parts of the world and has five effective varieties.

Application

 

I. Metallurgical industry
Fluorite is a very important flux in metallurgy. In the steelmaking process, the addition of fluorite can reduce the melting point of slag and increase the fluidity of slag, thus helping to remove impurities in steel, such as sulfur and phosphorus and other harmful substances. At the same time, in the smelting of non-ferrous metals (such as aluminum, copper, etc.), fluorite also plays a similar role to improve the smelting efficiency and the purity of the metal.

II. Chemical industry
Fluorite is the main raw material for acid production. It is a kind of inorganic acid with strong corrosion, which is widely used in many fields such as petrochemical industry and electronic industry.

III. Building materials industry
1. Glass manufacturing
In glass production, fluorite is used as a flux and a sunshade. It can reduce the melting temperature of glass, improve the transparency and refractive index of glass, and also improve the thermal stability and mechanical properties of glass.
2. Cement production
