Aluminum hydroxide is an inorganic substance, chemical formula Al(OH)₃, is the hydroxide of aluminum. Aluminum hydroxide can react with acid to form salt and water and with strong base to form salt and water, so it is a amphoteric hydroxide. Because it is acidic, it can also be called aluminum acid (H₃AlO₃). But the actual reaction with the base forms tetrahydroxylated aluminate ([Al(OH)₄]-). So it's usually thought of as HAlO₂·H₂O.
