INTRODUCTION
Upon calcination in a furnace at a designated temperature and time, kaolin's physical and chemical properties are modified to meet specific standards.
Low-temperature calcined kaolin, in contrast to uncalcined kaolin, has a decreased bound water content, an increased silica and trialumina content, more active sites, structural modifications, and a more consistent and finer particle size. The vulcanization characteristic curve of NR rubber with low-temperature calcined kaolin is nearly the same as that with uncalcined kaolin, with no variation in Shore hardness but an improvement in tensile strength.

APPLICATION
The main differences between washed kaolin and calcined kaolin lie in the processing methods, physical and chemical properties, application fields, and costs. Washed kaolin is purified through physical methods, retaining the original properties of the raw material, with lower costs and mainly used as a filler for papermaking; calcined kaolin undergoes high-temperature treatment to change the crystal structure, improving whiteness and performance, but has higher costs and is suitable for high-end papermaking, coatings, and other fields.

Coating: Calcined kaolin plays the role of filling the skeleton in the coating, which has the characteristics of high dispersion, chemical stability, corrosion resistance, fire resistance, scrub resistance, etc., which can improve the mechanical properties of the paint film, improve the coating covering power and weather resistance. In addition, it can also replace part of titanium dioxide, used in interior and exterior paint, high-grade paint, ink and marking paint, etc., directly reduce costs.

Plastics: Calcined kaolin can improve the strength, whiteness and electrical insulation of shed film, mulch film, cable, PVC pipe (plate) and other products. In the plastic film, it can also improve the scattering transmittance, block infrared rays, and reduce costs as a volume filler.

Paper making: The use of calcined kaolin can increase the void volume and loose thickness of the coating, smoothness, improve the opacity and elasticity of the paper, improve ink adsorption, gloss and reduce printing spots.

Pesticides and petrochemicals: Because the surface of calcined kaolin particles has micro-pores, it has great adsorbability and can be used in medicine and pesticides. Because of its neutral and high silicon content, it can also be used to make silicon fertilizer and feed additives. In refining, it can be used as a catalyst to improve the quality of oil products.
