BARIUM CARBONATE
INDUCTION
The white crystalline barium carbonate has minimal water solubility, resulting in a weakly alkaline solution upon slight dissolution. It decomposes into carbon dioxide and barium salts in acidic conditions, with a melting point of approximately 1740 °C.
It is widely used in the electronics industry for manufacturing PTC thermal components, chip components, and semiconductor capacitors, and is vital for the production of optical and picture tube glass, barium magnetic materials, and capacitors. Its applications also span steel carburizing, metal surface treatments, and the making of barium salts, ceramics, enamels, pigments, coatings, rubber, and welding rods.
It functions as a water purifier and rodenticide, requiring careful handling to prevent the formation of toxic barium compounds that can result in poisoning with symptoms of nausea, vomiting, arrhythmia, and respiratory paralysis.

APPLICATION
1. Auxiliary materials for ceramic coatings and optical glass.
2. Used for electronic ceramics, PTC thermistor, capacitor and other electronic components manufacturing.
3. Analyze iron in calcium, magnesium, manganese, and zinc.
4. Assay and determination of halogens in organic compounds.
5. Make barium salt, pigment, fireworks, rodenticide, pottery, and used as filler and water clarifying agent.
