BARIUM CARBONATE
INDUCTION
Barium carbonate (BaCO3) manifests as a white, crystalline substance with minimal water solubility, creating a mildly alkaline solution when it does dissolve. It decomposes into carbon dioxide and barium salts in acidic conditions and has a melting point of approximately 1740 °C.
Barium carbonate finds extensive application in the electronics industry, notably in the fabrication of PTC thermal sensitive components, chip components, and semiconductor capacitors. It also contributes to the creation of optical and picture tube glass, as well as barium-based magnetic materials and capacitors. Its uses extend to the steel carburizing process and metal surface treatments, and it serves as a precursor for various barium salts, ceramics, enamels, pigments, coatings, rubber, and welding rods. Notably, it functions as both a water purifier and a rodenticide.
However, its toxicity requires careful handling to prevent adverse health effects, such as nausea and vomiting, which can escalate to severe conditions like arrhythmia and respiratory paralysis.

APPLICATION
1. Auxiliary materials for ceramic coatings and optical glass.
2. Used for electronic ceramics, PTC thermistor, capacitor and other electronic components manufacturing.
3. Analyze iron in calcium, magnesium, manganese, and zinc.
4. Assay and determination of halogens in organic compounds.
5. Make barium salt, pigment, fireworks, rodenticide, pottery, and used as filler and water clarifying agent.
