DIOPSIDE
Introduction:
Diopside is a common kind of pyroxene, it belongs to the silicate mineral, is the calcium and magnesium silicate.The chemical formula is CaMg (SiO3) 2, the chemical composition of diopside (Wb %) : CaO is 25.9%, MgO is 18.5%, SiO2 is 55.6%.The secondary component Al2O3 is generally 1~3% and can be as high as 8%.Al3+ can replace Mg2+ and Fe2+, and can also replace Si. If Si is replaced by more than 7%, it is called aluminum diopside.Rich in Cr2O3 is called chromium-diopside, which is one of the characteristic minerals of kimberlite.
