Product Description
Calcite is a carbonate mineral and is the most stable polycrystalline form of calcium carbonate (CaCO3).
It is a very common mineral, especially as a component of limestone.
Calcite defines hardness 3 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness based on scratch hardness comparisons. Large calcite crystals are used in optical devices, while limestone composed primarily of calcite has a variety of uses.
Other polycrystalline forms of calcium carbonate are aragonite and chondraragonite minerals. At temperatures above 300°C, aragonite becomes calcite in a matter of days or less, and chondroaragonite is even more unstable

Application and advantages
Building and industrial materials
Calcite is used in the construction industry to produce cement and lime, as well as as a raw material in the chemical industry. In the metallurgical industry, calcite can be used as a flux. In addition, calcite is also used in the production of plastics, paper, toothpaste and other products. In the food industry, calcite can be used as a filling additive
Optical material
Colorless and transparent calcite, also known as Iceland SPAR, is often used to make polarizing prisms because of its birefringent properties. For example, calcite columnar crystals cut in a specific way can be used as microscope prisms to detect the optical properties of minerals
filler
Calcite is also widely used in coatings, plastics, rubber, paper, composite materials, ceramics, food, medicine, advanced refractories and electronic high-tech materials as fillers. It not only plays a role in increasing capacity, increasing, toughening, reinforcing and reducing costs, but also as a high-grade functional filler. In the plastics industry, ultra-fine organic heavy calcium is the most important filling and functional materials, which can improve the processing performance, the dispersion property of filled plastics, the wear resistance, and the mechanical and thermal properties of plastic products
